Late night doodles. I’ve been inspired by the art work of http://glennarthurart.com/ specifically the sketches and just wanted to do one for myself. I need to work on learning variations of facial features anyhoos but for now I needed instance gratification and used Taylor swift as my subject matter. The necklace is also loosely based off the image linked below.

Got a new brown paper sketchbook last week. I am going to limit myself to only black and white pen in here to just practice confidence in drawing and getting to know tonal values more intimately. Who knows I might finally get how to shade using line work alone lol

So for the last few days I was away in Quebec seeing family. I therefore got behind and am doing some catch up sessions on the 30 day improvement meme. Days 2 and 3 were to draw a natural pose and a movement pose. I had a lot of fun with the male figure as I don’t tend to draw men a lot but as you can probably tell I got a little frustrated with the movement one, for some reason I struggled a lot with the angle of her face among other things.

I have never really done any life drawing via digital mediums so I thought I’d give it a whirl. 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 5min and 10 min poses.

Found only in the deep dark depths, these creatures eyes are blind to the deformities that have been bestowed upon them. Men will run in fear of their grotesque, twisted armoured limbs. But the foolish, blind and curious will be lured into their caves and catacombs. She will reach out to you, a lost son or lover she will cry for. But her cries will shatter your very soul and you with writhe with pain and anguish. She will hold onto you for the longing of that last embrace, but her skeletal grasp will choke and smother. The single claws of each gnarled hand will dig and burrow biting into the flesh. When her wails turn to sighs and silent sobs you will be nothing more than a husk. Another love has abandoned her once again.

There has been a 30day monster challenge floating around and I have been toying with the idea of having a go. Unfortunately I decide upon this just as a friend plans to visit! Perhaps I should do a month of monsters instead of 1 per day?

Just a little doodle I hope to develop more. Weeee girls on dinos!!

I made some steady progress yesterday on the painting over my pencil sketch. Some areas are still rough and need more refining and I am debating whether I should continue working traditionally or move all the touch ups into Photoshop. 

I am hoping to use the art work as the first in a few designs specifically made to be used in creating a collection of new pendants also shown in this post. What do you think?

I finally have time to work on new exciting art stuff. I’m planning on making some unique pendants again and this time want designated art work to go with them. To start this experiment I plan to do a few traditionally painting portrait type pieces. I’m also experimenting with a technique I see a lot of my fav artists use. So fingers-crossed this works out. 

For something a bit more exciting, I finally dug up some of my own photographic references from the Eden Center in the UK so lets hope I get some fun colours out of this.

I’ve been lacking in the updates because I have been at Furnal Equinox!! Now it’s all over I can catch up with all the things I want to do! One of them was doing something with this sketch that started off as a promising thumbnail. I’m hoping to elaborate on it and do some Acrylic painting… but I’m not sure if I should keep the square composition or extend it out in a portrait or landscape piece.
